APAA - Accreditation

Oregon State University has been continuously accredited since 1924 and is currently accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU), one of six regional accrediting bodies recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

2011 - OSU Self-Evaluation

A site-visit evaluation team representing the NWCCU visited OSU during April 25-29, 2011. The team consisted of 8 university leaders from our region and was led by Dr. Douglas Baker, Provost and Executive Vice President for the University of Idaho.



The Evaluation Report noted three commendations (for strengthened development of the Cascades campus, for robust assessment practices in the Division of Student Affairs, and success in the Campaign for OSU) and two recommendations (regarding the need to “foster, support, and reward meaningful assessment of learning outcomes” and the need to “fully use assessment results to make determinations of mission fulfillment.”)


As a result of the evaluation, institutional accreditation was reaffirmed by NWCCU. Two follow-up items were required, however. The Commission suggested an Addendum to address “refinement of indicators” in the recommendation dealing with mission fulfillment. An Ad Hoc Evaluation, including Self-Study and Site Visit was also scheduled for Fall 2012 to address the recommendation dealing with assessment.
