Carrie Coplan - Student Affairs Service Award 2006-07

Statement of Wonderfulness

In Celebration of

Carrie Coplan
Career Services

The prevailing theme when discussing this service awardee has been, “she is simply amazing – how does one ascribe words to the full range of her amazingness?”  There is no doubt in the minds of those who work with her that Carried Coplan is truly one of those “special people your make a day not just a day, but an experience.”

Her career at OSU embodies what the institution and student affairs profession values.  She is a life-long learner taking doctoral classes to stay on top of her game.  She is an “Enthusiastic and energetic supporter of students and colleagues” and is “always there for the people around her.”  She inspires, encourages, informs, mentors, advises and cares.  She always presents a “shoulder to cry on, an ear to listen, an uncanny ability to focus people on the task at hand and always goes the extra mile for her colleagues.”

And…she’s got style!  “Carrie is my role model for clothing!  She knows how to walk the fine line of being cute and professional and she is teaching me how to use Ross.”

“Carrie, is the shining light of the Career Center.  Through all the changes, and all the challenges within the department, through taking on added work-load and organizing all the career fairs as well as with everything that comes at her on a day to day basis, Carrie role models the positive attitudes we should all have.”  Some people role model positive attitudes because they know it is a function of their jobs, “Carrie role models positives attitudes because it is her attitude.”

“Perhaps what I appreciate most about Carrie is that she is quick to remind me that I do not have to know everything, to be good at what I am doing, I just have to be there for the students.”   “She is what one day. I hope to be.”

Thank you Carrie, for bringing your special brand of sunshine to the lives of your colleagues and students!
